Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Located about 23km from Chau Doc, Beyond Sam Mountain, Tra Su Bird Sanctuary s a natural reserve of flooded mangrove forests, which stands for the impressive biodiversity of wetlands ecosystems in Mekong Delta. Home to many species of flora and fauna, Tra Su is also an ideal shelter for a vast of birds, which attracts visitors by not only its serene beauty of green forests but also fascinating bird-watching. The majority of Tra Su is covered by water, so traveling through the forest is mostly by boat, which is paddled and guided by locals. While sailing further in the forest, it is the time for perfect photo shoots and golden moments for witnessing many other kinds of birds, even endangered species if you’re lucky. Green paths made from a high density of fern on the water surface and large green dome by trees above create a dramatic picture of nature that hardly can be forgotten. The best time to visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary is in the rainy season from September to November, which helps boating tours easier across the canals as well as higher chances to see more birds living here.
