Experience fishing, basket boat and cooking class in Hoi An

What to Expect

Learn more about Vietnamese culture through its food during this fun cooking class activity. Before heading to the kitchen you’ll tour Hoi An’s fresh produce market to select the ingredients you’ll cook with. Then, set sail up the river in a bamboo basket boat and try fishing for crabs the Vietnamese way. In the kitchen, enjoy a two-hour cooking class and learn new skills. Enjoy eating your creations after class.

Itinerary

• Morning / Afternoon half-day tour

  08:00 or 14:00 Driver will meet you at your hotel in Hoi An town or meeting point. Then we head to local market with the chef. You will be introduced the necessary ingredients for cooking classes. (The market visit will be not available for afternoon tour).

  After the market, we will transfer to Cam Thanh village by boat. You have a chance to contemplate the river beauty in the countryside of Vietnam. You also have chance to explore the water coconut forest ecosystem and learn about the daily life of Vietnamese fishermen, their families and their community here. During boating, our guide will tell you more about Vietnamese–American war, interesting and true stories happened during the war time.

  Next, you will experience the round net (traditional net) with the fisherman’s. You can take the net up , collect the fishes and the shrimps.

  11:30 or 16:30 We will arrive class, and practice cooking 4 dishes. Our chef will introduce the preparation and the process to make each dish. You will enjoy what you cooked

  Suggested menu for your cooking class includes Beef Noodle Soup, Deep fried spring roll, Hoi An Pancake ( Banh Xeo) with pork and prawns, Fresh spring roll without rice paper.  

  Vegetarian menu is available on request, please let us know when you make booking. Menu includes “Pho" noodle soup (Phở chay), Tofu Fresh Rice Paper Salad Rolls; Fried spring roll and Vietnamese Pancake.

  13:00 or 19:00 You will be back hotel or original meeting point. Good bye and see you next time!
