              1. What is in its name?

Cao Van Lau Theater is named after Cao Van Lau musician – the father of the most popular Don ca tai tu song called Da co hoai lang (Night Drumbeats Cause Longing for Absent Husband).

The song after stimulates the excellent director Nguyen Hoang to bring it into a famous play sharing the same name. Taking a boat tour on the fertile river, enjoying some local food while immersing yourself into the beautiful and meaningful melody of the Da co hoai lang all bring you a memorable and very exquisite experience that you can’t have in anywhere else in the world.

           2. Where is Cao Van Lau Theater?

Cao Van Lau Theatre is located in Hung Vuong Square of Bac Lieu City (Tran Huynh, Ward 1, Bac Lieu City)  –  a southern province of Vietnam. The theatre is considered the most modern theatre in the Mekong River Delta.

              3. What makes it unique?

Cao Van Lau Theatre features with the shape of three conical hats that symbolize for the culture of the southern Vietnam in particular and of the whole Vietnam in general.

Now let’s explore the uniqueness of Cao Van Lau Theatre and let see how it has gained the huge attention from more and more people.

There are three main buildings in Cao Van Lau Theatre including the opera house, the exhibition and the meeting center. The three blocks have the shape of three conical hats which interleave with each other with the height of 24.75m – 21.85m – 19.45m. The theatre is surrounded by lotus lake bringing the wavy and eye-catching view for the whole complex.

As you may know, non la (conical hat) appears in every aspect of Vietnamese and has become the faithful friend of many Vietnamese. The underlined meaning of this spectacular architecture may make you more curious. The interleaving of three conical-hat buildings show the strong bond between father, mother and children in a family. In a broader meaning, it shows the strong interconnection between three regions of Vietnam namely the northern part, the central part and the southern part as a firm tripod. Additionally, the meaningful image reminds Vietnamese of the traditional supportive intimate which is well represented in the idiom: Together we can change the world.

            4. How to get to Bac Lieu Province from Ho Chi Minh City?

There are two ways to get to Bac Lieu from Ho Chi Minh City. You can get to the province either by coach or by plane (Take a flight from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Bac Lieu Airport, then take a coach to Bac Lieu Province). It is advisable that you get there by coach for money saving. You can take a coach at West Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City. The coach will take you to Bac Lieu Bus Station.

The transportation fare is about VND 200,000. From here, you can get to Tran Huynh Street, Ward 1 by many means. You can grab a taxi, try motorbike of Vietnam (xe om) or take a Grab bike. If you choose taxi or motorbike, remember to ask for price before your departure.

Bac Lieu is home to various religious, cultural and natural attractions which can satisfy different needs of visitors.
