1. Phichit Boat Race
When: 3 – 4 September 2016
Where: Phichit
The Phichit Boat Races take place on the Nan River in Phichit, one of the most scenic regions in Thailand. The event features long boat competitions with great fervour amid enthusiastic cheers from crowds of spectators. Preceding the King’s Cup Long-Boat Race are decorative boat processions on the Nan River in front of the Tha Luang Pier. The event is celebrated with various kinds of cultural shows, music performances as well as OTOP Fair and local product sales.
1.Trang Roast Pork Festival
When: 4 September 2016
Where: Trang
Trang Roast Pork Festival is a tourism promotion activity of Trang, held every September. The festival features Trang roast pork is of a special recipe. The pork skin is crispy, the meat is tender and it is delicious due to a process by which the pig is fermented with herbs then roasted whole on a specially made grill. Trang’s roast pork is sold daily and eaten with morning coffee or can be a banquet dish. It is wonderful activity for the tourist take Thailand tour on this day.
2. River Kwai Half Marathon 2016
When: 11 September 2016
Where: Kanchanaburi
Event Overview: Running for health; participants from Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, USA, Europe, etc. will start the race from the River Kwai Village Hotel and run along Highway 323 (Sai Yok –Thong Pha Phoom) and back. This competition was initiated by the British Airways about 20 years ago. Jack F. Angel American was the first winner.
Activities: The race starts at the hotel and the runners will take Highway (323), turn left and return to the starting point. Breakfast is served after the race. The winner will receive a T-shirt designed by New Balance and a buckle instead of a medal. The ones who came 1st to 5th place will receive the trophies.
3. Salak Yom and Salak Kapat Ceremony
When: 15 – 16 September 2016
Where: Wat Phra That Hariphunchai, Lamphun
Salak Yom and Salak Kapat Ceremony held every year during the 12th lunar month according to the Thai Buddhist calendar, which can fall anywhere in September, take place in Wat Prathat Haripunchai, Lamphun province. A Salak Yom is a tall bamboo construction (see the pictures) decorated with colorful paper. This construction contains house utensils, cloth, food, fruit, vegetables and the eight necessities of a Buddhist monk. On the first day of the ceremony the Salak Yoms will be brought to the temple in a procession. The next day the Salak Yoms will be donated to monks. In addition, the event include activities and Lanna musical performances on culture road, selling food, Salak Yom Parade and Salak Yom tree contest.
4. Moon Festival
When: 16 September 2016
Where: Trang
This is a tradition long observed by the Chinese people of Thung Yao Sub-district, Palian District, to commemorate the fight for the nation against the Mongols. A ceremony is held in late September or early October on the full moon day in the eighth month under the Chinese calendar.
5. Cha-am Seafood Festival
When: September 2016
Where: Cha Am Beach, Phetchaburi
The events of the Fish Flock Shellfish are held, yearly, on the viewing terrace of Cha-am beach in Phetchaburi (located 160 km south to Bangkok). Lot of stands offers the best sea food and fishes 50 chefs from the leading hotels of the city. The festival is held between 05.00 pm and 10.00 pm. The public can also join a cruise of evening fishing of cuttlefishes that are dragged by the lights of the boats.
6. Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music
When: September – October 2016
Where: Thailand Cultural Center, Bangkok
Bangkok’s International Festival of Dance and Music is indeed a star-studded surprise-filled programmed that spans a whole range of genres. It is a festival that once again reaffirms Bangkok’s place as a cultural capital. The program includes classical concerts, operas, classical ballets, contemporary and folk dances, jazz and the occasional less common genres such as fado.
