Tran Quoc Pagoda

Ho Chi Minh Complex

Ma May Ancient House – free Hanoi walking tour

Located within Hanoi Old Quarter, the Ma May ancient house which was built at the late of the 20th century, is quite intact with typical architecture of ancient houses in the Northern part of Vietnam. Ma May ancient house consists of two main blocks linked together by a square yard, which is called “Gieng Troi” (Well of heaven) in the middle on the ground floor.

Well of heaven used to grow plants, moderate the air and provide sunlight, cool winds to make the house more spacious. The balcony above is an ideal place to grow small plants, flower pots for the owner’s interest and relaxation. St. Joseph’s Cathedral
